What is the OSCAR Subsidy?
The OSCAR Subsidy is a government contribution that helps eligible families with the cost of approved school holiday programmes.
Note: OSCAR Subsidy is only available for OSCAR accredited providers, which we are.
When should I apply?
We strongly recommend applying for the subsidy well before your child's first day at camp. This helps increase the likelihood that your subsidy payment, if approved, begins prior to the first day of camp.
Parent/Guardian Eligibility
You may qualify if you:
Receive a qualifying WINZ benefit or meet income thresholds
Are the main caregiver
Your child normally lives in New Zealand
Are an NZ citizen, permanent resident, or ordinarily resident (Temporary visas do not usually qualify)
You or your partner must also be:
Working, OR
Studying or training, OR
In an MSD-approved activity, OR
Seriously ill or disabled, OR
Caring for a child in hospital or a child receiving Child Disability Allowance
Child Eligibility
Your child must:
Be enrolled in and attending school
Be under 14 years old (or under 18 if receiving Child Disability Allowance)
Attend an approved OSCAR programme for at least 3 hours per week
Note: You generally cannot receive the OSCAR subsidy if the child's other parent/guardian/caregiver is available to provide care instead (unless the child receives Child Disability Allowance)

When applying, you may need to provide:
Proof of identity
Income evidence (payslips, income statements, etc.)
